Plein Air Easton 2016

Just got back from Plein air Easton 2016. It was an exhilarating and exhausting experience. I have been lucky to have attended four times. This year, I was honored to receive an Honorable Mention at the awards for my painting "A Little Dust Up". The staff of The Avalon Foundation, Easton Plein Air volunteers and the entire community make the competition the most well organized plein air competition in the country and a joy to be part of. A big "Thank You" to all! We had a variety of weather, from beastly heat and humidity to torrential rainstorms. Most of the artists were housed by the local community. My first-time host was exceptionally welcoming. It is stressful being at the competition for such a long time but having a safe, comfortable place to retire to, made all the difference. I am amazed at the people who open their houses to strangers for up to 12 days. And we don't travel light. In my case I brought frames, glass, boards, paper, easels, umbrellas and boxes of pastels and a few articles of clothes.
